Asmodee Digital has just put out its latest board game adaptation on Android in the form of Ticket to Ride: First Journey. It’s a spin-off of the mega-popular Ticket to Ride, but targeted primarily at a younger audience.

It’s an interesting concept given the general complexity of the board game scene in 2017. While there will always be a focus on simple, pick-up-and-play titles, there typically isn’t as large a push behind those focused primarily on children, especially in the digital board game format.

We haven’t given the game a test yet, but it looks every bit as good as Asmodee’s typical output on mobile platforms: intuitive, beautiful and, most importantly: accessible. They do suggest that the game is also attractive for older, more experienced board game players, but that’s a hard balance to strike and it definitely is more geared toward a younger audience.

Asmodee Digital describe’s the game as a “fantastic way to discover the Ticket to Ride series,” and it certainly looks the part.

In Ticket to Ride, players take turns laying track to try and connect cities in the most profitable way they can. Players draw train cards or discard their own train cards of a matching color to claim a route between two cities.

Ticket to Ride: First Journey is $1.99 on Google Play.
